Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was born in Charleston West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at the local college. To follow in the footsteps of her father, she obtained a degree as a chemical engineer. Her move into New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. While appearing in Broadway productions, she also worked as a waitress. Her cameo was in the television series "Felicity." (It it was on that show where she first met her husband, Scott Foley.) Garner was given her first major performance in "13 going on thirty", a romantic comedy which was widely praised. She played a teenage girl who was trapped within the body of an adult. Garner selected Gary Winick for the role as director. The two continued working together on other projects up to the time Winick passed away in 2011. In 2009, Garner was named an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. Role includes national literacy promotion and nutrition, as well as early education and different aspects. Since 2014, Garner has been a part of the board of trustees of this group, promoting early childhood education. In her role as an ambassador for the organization, Garner often visits with families involved in the organisation's Early Steps to School Success program. The program guides parents on ways to assist young children learn.
